Children who achieve best are those whose attendance is good (above 95%). If your child is ill, please phone the school office on the first day of absence and then follow this up with a letter to the class teacher when your child returns to school. You need to state the nature of your child’s illness as we are required to keep a record of this information. If your child is suffering from diarrhoea and/or vomiting please keep them off school for 48 hours after their last bout of sickness or diarrhoea.
It is important that children are punctual. Any children who arrive after 8.55 a.m. must come to the school office; they will then be escorted to class. Please be aware that children who are late not only miss out on learning, they also miss important socialising at the beginning of the day and disrupt the learning of the whole class on their arrival. Arriving 10 minutes late can take a child 30 minutes to recover. Please be on time.
We believe that developing good habits of attendance and punctuality when children start school will serve them well for the rest of their lives.
