FACILITIES AND ORGANISATION
The school is set in extensive grounds which are well-used, particularly for sporting activities and outdoor learning, including Forest School activities and a designated wildlife pond garden.
There is a purpose built computer suite, a children’s kitchen, a spacious library, music rooms and an Art and Design Studio. All of these areas are timetabled and add considerably to the children’s curriculum experiences.
We have Wi-Fi, Laptops, Desktops and Learn Pads as part of our programme to further develop computing and technology in our school.
Foundation Stage and Years 1 and 2 together make up the Lower School. In each year group there are two parallel classes of thirty children. In the Foundation Stage both classes have a full-time teacher and a learning support assistant. In Years 1 and 2, learning support assistants work alongside the teaching staff to support groups and individuals.
Years 3 to 6 continue as two parallel classes per year group and make up the Upper School. Class sizes may rise to thirty-two in these year groups.
When children reach Year 1 they are placed in one of four Houses - Cator, Heydon, Lennard or Pitt - and will remain in this house throughout their time in school. These names have historical family associations with the area. Our house system is used to reward and encourage positive attitudes towards both learning and behavior and imbibes a sense of belonging.
