Day 4 – how’s it going?

Are you okay? We realise that many of you are trying to work from home whilst looking after your children AND trying to teach them … not an easy ask! Please remember the work we are setting every day can be completed when it suits you, we are not marking it although when we get back we may well have a massive exhibition of everything the children are proud of that they completed when at home – so hang onto the good stuff!

This will make you giggle – two of my ‘pretty fit’ staff completed the Joe Wickes workout at 9am this morning with the two children we had in today using the in-school provision for key worker’s children … it nigh on killed them – they said ‘that is not for kids!’ Ha ha! However, lots of the stuff being uploaded by teachers is - so please do check out websites when you can.

I am so proud of you all, our school is certainly following the government guidelines in terms of trying to stay home and keep everyone safe – thank you. For the few that do need us we will continue to open next week from 8am-4:30pm but of course if you can avoid/limit using the facility or if you or your child display any symptoms then please do not come in and please do email the school office. I have rung and left messages today for a few folks who registered as key workers last week to check if they would need us next week – if you will again please email the school office confirming days and times ASAP. We also need to protect our staff and as such are keeping staffing levels to a safe minimum.

Very soon we will have teachers reading stories aloud on our website – under the learning tab search for podcasts and you will be able to hear stories and chats, maybe some recommendations. Already on there, previously recorded, are children and teachers talking about their favourite books, please do have a listen.

Keep to a routine, include fresh air and exercise, do what you can school-work-wise, keep reading as always. Together we will get through this!

Kindest regards

Mrs Debbie Allis and everyone at Wickham Common Primary School
